More than 20 years ago, the founder of Genesis Genetics, Dr Mark Hughes, and his team performed the first preimplantation genetic testing on an embryo. Subsequently, Genesis Genetics has performed thousands of procedures that involve Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis and Screening (PGD and PGS, respectively) and is widely recognised as a global leader in the industry. Couples interested in building their families through the wonder of genetic testing, are now able to achieve their dream.
Genesis Genetics offers two Preimplantation Genetic Testing options:
Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS)
Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS) is offered as a complement to a patient’s in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment, to improve pregnancy success rates and reduce miscarriages. PGS is testing of early stage embryos for chromosomal abnormalities.

Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)
Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) is a test that is specifically designed to screen embryos for a known mutation that is causing a familial genetic condition, such as Cystic Fibrosis or Tay Sachs. Used in conjunction with in vitro fertilisation (IVF), PGD is a laboratory test that is used to help detect single gene conditions before embryos are transferred to a patient’s uterus.
